John Steinkamp
John Steinkamp is a native Hoosier married to Jean DeLong, DVM, with whom they have two teenage daughters. For the past 25 years, he has owned and operated his law firm in Indianapolis.
In 1991, John graduated from Indiana University (Bloomington, IN) with degrees in History and Political Science. He later attended Temple Law School (Philadelphia, PA), graduating in 1996.
John’s dedication and passion for practicing law are only a few reasons he has been recognized by his peers to be named as a Super Lawyer in consumer law for five years. He engages in national and state legal conferences as a guest speaker and is the Co-Chair of the committee of attorneys who produced the 2023 Fair Debt Collection Act annual conference.
Over his 25 year career, John has represented thousands of clients in various types of cases, but has dedicated the last 15 years focusing on consumer bankruptcy law, the FCRA, and the FDCPA. Through all of his efforts, he has handled countless trials and briefs while also obtaining numerous favorable published decisions for his clients.
John proudly contributes to several charities, including the Indiana Bar Foundation, Riley’s Children’s Hospital, the National Kidney Foundation, the Anti-Defamation League, Susan G. Komen, PeyBack Foundation, and others.
During his free time, John enjoys cooking, mostly Mediterranean-style cuisine, such as Italian and Greek food, and traveling with the family. He is also an avid sports fan! His go-to football teams are the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles, but you can guarantee he’ll attend Indiana Pacers games every year!
Michael Cox
Michael S. Cox is the Associate Attorney for the bankruptcy cases at John Steinkamp & Associates. He began working with the firm in October 2022, and with over 18 years of experience and knowledge in handling both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 Bankruptcy cases, he is our go-to person in the firm!
After Michael graduated from Southwestern High School (Shelby County, IN), he attended Indiana University (Bloomington, IN), where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Continuing his academic journey, Michael received his Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University School of Law (Oklahoma City, OK) in 2003. He was admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana and the Federal Courts in the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana in 2004.
In his spare time, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife (Natalie), daughter (Jordan), dog (Sandi) and their friends and family. Michael is also a big movie buff and music enthusiast. He also enjoys rooting for the Indiana Hoosiers and Indiana Pacers basketball teams, and eating Hawaiian pizza.
Norma Weddle
Norma Weddle is the Paralegal for the bankruptcy cases at John Steinkamp & Associates, where she has been employed with the firm for almost 20 years. She is the “go-to” person in the office when anyone is trying to remember specific details about former and present clients/cases because of her uncanny ability to remember even the smallest of details. Clients are very responsive to Norma and enjoy working with her because of her patience, hard work and dedication to her position.
After graduating from high school, Norma attended IVY Tech and Vincennes University extension classes at Fort Harrison, pursuing degrees in Business Management, Marketing and Distribution Management, while also completing classes to become a realtor.
Norma enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, two step-children, five grandsons and her only granddaughter! She enjoys cooking, get-togethers with her enormous family, fudge rounds, and spending weekends at the Lake!
Sarah Ritchie
Sarah Ritchie is the Paralegal for the Consumer Protection and Litigation side of the firm. With over 10 years of experience, Sarah specializes in lawsuits under the FDCPA. As John Steinkamp & Associates has grown to have a national presence, she has become the liaison for the many law firms and clients we work with across the nation.
In addition to her paralegal duties, Sarah is also our Office Manager and oversees the firm’s billing, technology, and project implementation. Sarah is the point person for vendors and co-counsel. In conjunction with her litigation work, Sarah has curated presentations for various consumer litigation conferences and assisted in the planning committee for the annual National Consumer Law Center and National Association of Consumer Advocates FDCPA conference.
After graduating from Center Grove High School, Sarah earned a degree in Pre-Art Therapy and a formal education in Fine Arts from Indiana University-Bloomington. Informally, Sarah is the resident millennial of the firm, taking on the role of technological guru for all things in the office.
Outside of the office, The Ritchie Family has planted roots in the growing town of Bargersville, Indiana. Sarah is a collector of macabre oddities and artwork, and enjoys finding and supporting the local, hidden treasure foodie spots with her husband, Noah. Sarah is the proudest Mom of her three amazing kiddos; Minerva, Felix, and Florence.
